Prepared:04/28/2021Statement of Purpose:The Non-Physician Provider
is a medical provider responsible to take medical histories,
examine patients, maintain patient records, identify health risk
factors, prescribe medications, and make referrals and other wise
treat health conditions. The practitioner may focus on patient
wellness and disease prevention and may provide health education
services or counsel patients on how to make healthy lifestyle
choices.Essential Responsibilities:Perform clinical assessment on
new patients, consult to and follow up on patients at the
clinic.Document patients' physical assessments, medical histories,
and progress reports under 72 hrs. according to CAN's chart
documentation policy.Render assistance to complete paperwork
related to medical management of patients, billing, or
credentialing requirements.Retrieve and evaluate patient's medical
results, including pathology and lab results, specialty or primary
care consultation and reports on diagnostic tests.Prescribes
appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment
modalities.Monitor the effectiveness of interventions.Assess and
determine patients' status for symptoms, toxicities, and side
effects.Collaborate and supervise medical staff, as assigned by CAN
and according to state lawProvide training to in-house nursing
staff.Collaborate in systemwide educational, clinical effectiveness
and quality activities.Participate in internal and external
committees geared to advance the provision of services at
CANSecondary Tasks:Maintains up to date knowledge of laws and
regulations impacting their profession (Advance Practice Nurse,
Physician Assistant). Ensures confidentiality regarding
patient/client and/or family in accordance with HIPAA and other
privacy and security regulations, professional, and departmental
standards.Promotes, practices, and role models CAN's mission and
values, following policies and procedures.Works effectively and
professionally with a diverse population treating all staff,
patients, and clients with respect at all times.Physical
Requirements:Neat, professional appearance.Exerts up to 15 lbs. of
force occasionally and/or 10 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to
5 lbs. of force constantly in lift, carry, push pull, or otherwise
move objects, including the human body. Involves sitting most of
the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of
time.Requires expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken
word, visual and auditory acuity. Education/Professional
Requirements:Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, or
bachelor's degree.Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or
Physician Assistant ProgramCurrent Advanced Practice Registered
Nurse (ARNP) Licensure or Physician Assistant LicensureInfectious
Disease and HIV experienceIV experienceCAN Required

Experience:Minimum 3 years' experience in HIV medicine preferred, 1
years required.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:Ability to
think and complete work assignments on time independently with
minimal guidance.Ability to organize priorities and perform
multiple tasks simultaneously, working with constant
interruptions.Strong knowledge of medical terminology including lab
orders and results, medical office procedures and EMR system. HIV
knowledge a plusStrong analytical thinking, decision making, and
problem-solving skills.Knowledge of office equipment including fax
and copy machines.Exercises consistently sound judgmentAbility to
adapt to change.Able to demonstrate tact and good judgment in
interactions with providers and other departments.Able to
demonstrate tact and organizational values when dealing with
diverse populations.Excellent office skills including data entry
and Microsoft Office and OutlookAbility to be highly organized and
focused on details and accuracy.Ability to utilize problem solving
techniques along with strong intuitive and critical thinking
